The Definition of Social Media Marketing

Nowadays, social media is the most popular on the Internet(Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc), everyone are sharing their life and experience, interacting with others. It created a word-of-mouth effect on Internet.

The marketers know that it is a perfect place to promote their products and services. thus they developed a series of strategies and apply it to those social media.

Social Media Marketing is relatively low cost compare with traditional media. It helps you to spread the message in a conversational way.

It is interactive and 2 way communication. It is internet or mobile based. It provides a way that the marketer could communicate with potential customers as well as current customers directly. Through this, it make the company "real" to the customer.

In coming week, I will further explain Social Media Marketing by case study of Coca Cola.

  1. I have a question about the interactiveness and 2 way communication...how is a tweet different from an ad on TV? I could just be receiving this and not do anything...or an ad txt that only annoys and jams my message box! just a thought...
This is a nice 1st entry though :)

  2. thanks for your comment. of coz, you can just receiving the message and do nth no matter you got if from a tweet or TV ad. But you could have less effort or I can say it is more easier to give feedback when you want to through social media.

for example, if you think a TV ads is not true, what will you do? I think you have to go to the internet and search for the complaint hotline.

However, if you use the social media, you can express your feeling in the company facebook. Twitter or blog, If there are more people agree with you, it will create a buzz or noise. It is the power of the social media. It may force the company to reply all of you.

Sometimes, the company will release information and ask for comment via social media, If a TV ad ask you to give a comment, will you do that?

I can say that almost everyone, at least the new generation will use the social media everyday. and it is more easy to express your comment via this, so i think it is more interactiveness and 2 way communication than old traditional media.
